Excursion Niapiskau island- daughter of the sea tour at Havre-Saint-Pierre
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
One of the highlights of the Mignan Archipelago, a chain of 40 islands east of Quebec, is Niapiskau, with its incredible natural limestone monoliths. Travel just 20 minutes by boat from Havre-Saint-Pierre to arrive at Niapiskau Island.
Embark on a short walk along a loop trail guided by a Parks Canada heritage presenter. Your guide's presentation takes you back in time to understand the presence of the amazing geological formations surrounding you.
As you observe limestone cliffs and strangely sea-carved monoliths, this tour provides a fascinating look into the natural history of the area and tells a story that is nearly 500 million years old. These fascinating limestone sculptures, named by the poet Roland Jomphe, come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from the impressive "Dame de Niapisca" to the "Small Graduating Owl."
Make your return boat journey and arrive at the pier.
