A merchant fell in love with a local girl, built a beautiful 15th century house for her on the main square. Its Venetian-Gothic architecture is striking with its lovely Venetian balcony and windows. The story of salt and its place in human history worldwide is worth listening too.
Tartini Square
The square was named after the violinist composer Giuseppe Tartini and there is also a monument to him which was built in 1896.
St. George Cathedral
Was built in the Venetian Renaissance architectural style and has been dedicated to Saint George. It was the life work on a stonemason from Venice. The construction of this church was completed in 1614. The new free standing bell tower, which was a separate building, is a replica of St. Mark's Campanile in Venice, and was completed a year later. The Renaissance front façade of the church was built in 1608. Stop for a tasting of some local delicacies and a glass of wine.
