Excursion Panoramic bordeaux and canelé tasting tour at Bordeaux
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Depart the pier and discover Bordeaux, narrated by an expert guide who will take you to both river banks and show you historic Bordeaux highlights. This approximately 02-hours sightseeing tour is a scenic, refreshing way to get an overview of Bordeaux, including two photostops.
You will start your journey by heading north alongside the left bank until reaching the modern Chaban Delmas bridge and cross the river right in front of the Cité du Vin Wine Museum and its stunning architecture. You will then enjoy the very unique view over the Pont de Pierre and the UNESCO district of Bordeaux from the right bank. This first photostop might be the perfect time and place to have a canelé, the iconic local pastry.
Head back to the other bank and arrive at Place de la Comédie, once the site of a Roman temple and today a place where locals meet. This plaza is home to Bordeaux's cultural symbol, the renowned Grand Théâtre. It’s time for another photostop in the very heart of historical Bordeaux.
Continue alongside the Garonne River, dotted with historical buildings and attraction: Quai Louis XVIII, Place des Quinconces (and the Monument aux Girondins, commemorating political martyrs from the French Revolution), Place de la Bourse, La Grosse Cloche (Bordeaux's famous clock tower and Porte de Bourgogne)...
See the Place Gambetta, the Cathédrale St-André and the Hôtel de Ville, the historical city hall, before finishing this scenic tour by the ship.
