Excursion Panoramic st.thomas & skyride to paradise point tour at Saint Thomas
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
St. Thomas’ natural beauty is everywhere, but nowhere is it more jaw-dropping than when seen from the green peaks that tower over the island. This excursion is all about elevating your views to capture that spectacle from multiple vantage points.
Skyline Drive to Mountain Top
Head for the hills on a panoramic spin via open-air safari bus along Skyline Drive, with stops for awe. Be ready for Instagram-worthy views of your ship docked in historic Charlotte Amalie Harbour, now some 800 ft below. Thirty minutes in, you’ll have reached Mountain Top, at 1,500 ft elevation, the highest point on the island. Stunning Atlantic coastal views abound from the scenic observation deck – a sea of gorgeous small islands and cays with famously heart-shaped Magens Bay Beach shimmering as the centrepiece. Further off, St. John, Jost Van Dyke, and Tortola dot the horizon. With an hour free to take it all in, there’s time for browsing Mountain Top’s duty-free shops too, if you like.
Skyriding to Paradise Point
A brief winding descent along mountain roads brings you to your next stop, the Skyride base station in downtown Charlotte Amalie, where a windowed gondola waits to whisk you right back up to the heights, this time to Paradise Point, and fresh awe-inducing views of the island’s southern coastline. On a clear day, you can even spot Puerto Rico and St. Croix in the distance. With about 75 minutes of leisure time up here, you might want to grab a bite at the restaurant, sip a famous Baileys® Bushwacker from the bar, browse the souvenir shops, or take a stroll out on the new Skywalk platform – if you dare.
A return trip via Skyride brings you back to the tram base, just across the street from the cruise port and a short walk from your ship.
