Excursion Pink dolphin encounter tour at Manaus
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Experience the famous and rare pink dolphins from a unique perspective during this half-day scenic speedboat tour in the Paricatuba region.
Manaus, Speedboat-Ride, Rio Negro, Paricatuba Village, Jacaréubal, Pink Dolphins
Leave the pier aboard a local speedboat for an approximately 90-minute scenic cruise along the Rio Negro en route to a riverside community in the Jacaréubal region. A few years ago, two local girls came to feed the resident pink, and now very famous, dolphins on a floating dock. Since then, these beautiful cetaceans have become accustomed to receiving human visitors and are thermal, although they live in wild areas and protected by the local environmental protection association.
Interact with the Dolphins
Your visit to this Jacaréubal community offers a unique opportunity to see and interact with dolphins from an underwater platform.
Paricatuba Village
After meeting the dolphins, board your speedboats again and sail through the Jacaréubau canals until you reach the village of Paricatuba, where there is time available for you to visit the local community and get to know the ruins and history of a leprosy hospital built in the middle of the jungle.
At the end of the visit, board your speedboat and begin the approximately 90-minute journey back to the pier.
Note
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 500 metres, at times over uneven and natural surfaces, with a few steps to embark/disembark the speedboat and 15 steps to access the village during the dry season. Walking in the local village is at the discretion of each guest. The boating distance between the pier and Jacaréubal is approximately 90 minutes in each direction, and very bumpy. Do not wear sunscreen or jewellery, as these can injure the dolphin's skin. Guests must be at least 12 years old to participate on this tour. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour. Guests are not allowed to touch or feed the dolphins. Guests have the opportunity to swim in the lake.
