Excursion Ponta da piedade & lagos discovery tour at Portimao

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover two of the Algarve’s most captivating locations on this scenic and cultural half-day excursion.

Ponta da Piedade

Depart the pier for an approximately 45-minute scenic drive along Portugal’s southern coastline to Ponta da Piedade, located just outside Lagos. Known for its dramatic cliffs, sculpted rock formations, and emerald-hued waters, Ponta da Piedade is one of the Algarve’s most breathtaking natural landmarks. A short 10-minute walk from the coach brings you to a network of viewpoints, each offering panoramic vistas of the coast, sea caves, and grottoes. The area is also rich in birdlife, including Peregrine Falcons, Alpine Swifts, and egrets. Spend time exploring the viewpoints and enjoying this serene and striking setting.

Lagos

Continue with a short drive to the historic town of Lagos. Once a Moorish trading center and later a key site during Portugal’s Age of Discovery, Lagos boasts a rich maritime history and picturesque architecture. On your guided walking tour through the Old Town, you’ll visit key landmarks and learn about the town’s storied past—from Moorish rule to the legacy of Prince Henry the Navigator. Following the guided portion, enjoy free time to wander the cobbled streets, shop, or relax at a local café.

At the conclusion of your visit, rejoin your coach for the approximately 30-minute return to the pier in Portimão.
