Excursion Resercher for a day tour at Alghero
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Join a fully certified, environmentally responsible marine excursion led by professional marine biologists in the Gulf of Alghero. This hands-on, educational experience offers guests the chance to observe dolphins in their natural habitat, listen live to their vocalizations, and gain insight into ongoing research in the Mediterranean.
Walk to the Boat
Depart the pier and take a short, approximately 100-meter walk to the semi-decked research boat. Guests are escorted by a local guide to the boarding area, where the skipper and marine biologist provide a comprehensive briefing on the marine environment, safety procedures, and dolphin behavior. Boarding requires agility, and shoes must be removed before stepping on board.
Dolphin Watching and Snorkeling (Summer Only)
Once on board, the vessel begins its tour of the Gulf of Alghero. The marine biologist points out key features of the marine habitat and explains ongoing research projects. Using hydrophone technology, guests can listen to live dolphin vocalizations and selected recordings collected during scientific studies. During the summer season, the tour includes a snorkeling stop in the Capo Caccia–Isola Piana Marine Protected Area, providing a rare opportunity to explore Sardinia’s underwater biodiversity. The duration of the snorkeling stop is determined by weather and sea conditions.
After the tour, guests disembark via the same steps used to board and may return to the ship independently or explore the city at their leisure.
