Scenic Drive to Afandou, Mount Smith, the Temple of Apollo, and the Ancient Stadium

Depart the cruise pier by air-conditioned minibus for an approximately 45-minute panoramic drive across the island. En route, pass notable landmarks such as Mount Smith, the Temple of Apollo, and the Ancient Stadium, gaining insight into Rhodes’ long artistic and cultural legacy.

Bonis Ceramic Workshop, Live Demonstration of Rhodian Pottery

Arrive at the Bonis Ceramic Workshop in Afandou, where pottery-making traditions date back to ancient times. Each guest receives an apron and a brief introduction to the history and techniques of Rhodian ceramics, followed by a live demonstration on the pottery wheel by a professional instructor.

Hands-On Pottery Experience, Ouzo & Meze Tasting

Guests are divided into small groups of three and guided through the process of shaping their own ceramic piece on the wheel. You will also have the opportunity to try the traditional coloring techniques used to decorate Rhodian pottery. Your finished creation will later be fired, painted, and shipped to your home. After the workshop, enjoy time to browse the studio’s exhibition showcasing fine Rhodian ceramics.

Conclude the experience with a comfortable 45-minute drive back to the cruise pier.

Please note: The tour involves minimal amounts of walking of approximately 25 yards (23 meters) with about 5 steps at the pottery workshop. This tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility but is not wheelchair accessible; participants must be able to negotiate a few steps. Guests should wear light clothing, flat shoes, hat, and sunscreen. Snacks and ouzo are included. Guests must complete a shipping form for their pottery, which will be delivered 1–3 months after the visit. Space is limited (maximum 14 guests); advance booking is strongly recommended. The pottery workshop is closed on public holidays, and a Sunday/holiday guide supplement may apply.
