Meet you food passionate guide and begin your S.A.L.T. Program with a scenic, approximately one-hour drive to the beautiful Empordà region, located in the far northeast of Spain. The Empordà has two geographically distinct areas; Alt Empordà and Baix Empordà, where Mas Marcè and the Es Portal restaurant are located. The Empordà region has become a major attraction for haute cuisine, headed by famous chef Ferran Adrià. Also, many wineries with Empordà DO (Designation of Origin) wines and initiatives of professionals from the world of gourmet cuisine promote the Empordà region as a first-class gastronomic destination.


Alt Empordà, Siurana Village, Mas Marcè, Organic Sheep and Cheese Farm

Upon arrival to the Alt Empordà region, head to the small village of Siurana for a visit to Mas Marcè. On this CCPAE-certified organic farm, the Marcè family raise quality Ripollesa sheep, and produce the high-quality, organic-certified cheese and food items for which Mas Marcè is renowned.


Guided Walking Tour, Farm, Cheese and Yoghurt Production, Milking Room

Upon arrival, you are escorted on a guided and narrated tour of the farm, milking room, and cheese workshop. Along the way, learn about the history of the family, now in its 6th generation of sheepherding. In addition, learn how Mas Marcè cheeses are produced, processed, packaged, and marketed. Following your tour, proceed for a tasting of four different cheeses, along with yoghurt and recuit.


Es Portal Restaurant, Four-Course Gourmet Lunch Featuring Mas Marcè Products

Next, re-board your coach and proceed for lunch at the renowned Es Portal restaurant. Chef Joan Carles Sánchez and his team masterfully-prepare the cuisine of the Es Portal restaurant utilising the finest, locally-sourced ingredients combined with just the right touch of innovation and creativity. The Es Portal restaurant is part of the Empordà gastronòmic group known as the 'Cuina de l'Empordanet', with an objective of promoting the gourmet food quality of the Empordà region. Your four-course gourmet lunch features the sumptuous flavours of the Empordà region, and is paired with wines. After lunch, your S.A.L.T. Program excursion concludes with an approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.

Please note: This S.A.L.T. Program tour involves a moderate amount of walking and standing for approximately 547 yards (about 500 metres), at times over uneven and natural surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and five steps at Mas Marcè. This tour is not suitable for guests with food allergies, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, bottled water, and Euros or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least six years old to participate on this tour. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. The tour sequence may vary.
