Excursion Semarang highlights tour at Semarang

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Travel just a short way to begin your tour to see some of Semarang's most popular attractions. Starting from the pier, drive 15 minutes to the Gereja Blenduk, Semarang's mighty domed church, dominated by a tremendous baroque organ, though no longer in operation, the once-sonorous giant still echoes with images of the church's grand past.

Continue to the bustling old city of Semarang Kota Lama and stop at Danarhadi batik shop for opportunity to shop for batik cloth, fabric, household goods or souvenirs to bring back home.

From here, the tour is continued to Sam Po Kong (Gedung Batu), a unique temple built in honor of the famous Chinese Admiral, Zheng He. Inside the temple are many outstanding stone carvings and sculptures as well as several shrines and tombs.

Enjoy refreshment of Javanese coffee or tea served with a snack of traditional rice cakes, crackers and seasonal fruits at Hills Joglo Villa, a traditional style hill resort set in a tropical garden. The villas here are traditional Javanese buildings, collected from all over the island of Java.

Make the return trip to port.
