Get a taste of Dakar's cityscapes, architecture, culture, history and of course also local village life on this splendidly varied tour. Begin with a city tour of Dakar, passing by the old colonial and quaint central train station of Dakar. Drive through Independence Square, making a stop at Kermel Market, a picturesque market rich with Senegalese handicrafts. Pass by the President's Palace and admire its red Spahi Guards, and stop at both the Cathedral of Dakar and the Great Mosque of Dakar.
Continue on your tour through the charming district of Medina, with a brief stop to visit and maybe meet a popular artist of the district. Pass through the residential district of Fann Featuring the new Senegalese architecture style. Stop at the Monument of the African Renaissance and receive a lecture from the Curator.
Transfer one hour to visit the village of Yoff and attend a Lebou naming ceremony. Fishermen by tradition, the Lebou ethnic group has kept alive all its traditional uses and customs. They will, with pride, perform a naming ceremony headed by the Chief of the village to show you the deep roots of their culture in the African traditions.
Leave for the Museum of the Black Civilizations, considered as the second most important Museum in Africa after a museum in Cairo. Be welcomed by Prof Alioune Badiane, member of the International Academy of Arts and former Director General of the Senegal National Instituted of Art and enjoy a Visit of the Museum.
