Along the way, landmarks to be seen include Independence Square, which features the monument and mausoleum of national hero José Gervasio Artigas. A photo stop is then made at the spectacular Congress Building, the pride of Uruguay.
Estancia La Rábida
Next, re-board your coach for the approximately 50-minute drive to the Estancia La Rábida. After being welcomed by the owners and their family, board a traditional old wagon, or 'dray truck', for a ride along the fields and shores of the Rio de la Plata. During your visit, learn about the daily chores of the Uruguayan gaucho, the agriculture, horse-breeding, cattle-raising, and other activities carried out on the ranch. A typical barbecue, or asado lunch is provided, complete with Uruguayan wines.
Following your visit, re-board your coach for the approximately 50-minute drive back to the pier.
