Excursion Vestmanna village exploration tour at Vestmanna

Enjoy a guided walk through Vestmanna and discover its history from Viking times to today. We stop at Gálgarðurin to learn about the first settlers, visit the 1895 village church, and explore Krambúðin, the old department store from 1906.You’ll also hear the story of Vestmanna’s early attempts at producing electricity and visit the site of the 1954 hydroelectric plant. The walk ends at the local rowing club, where traditional Faroese wooden boats used in summer competitions are on display. The walk covers approx. 3.5 km.

Please note: A moderate amount of walking and standing for approximately 3.5 km (2.1 miles). At times over unpaved and uneven surfaces and inclines, with a few steps at the various sites visited. Dress in layers with sturdy, closed-toe, waterproof shoes/boots, and bring sun protection and a weatherproof jacket, hat, scarf and gloves.
