Excursion Volcano pacaya trekking tour at Puerto Quetzal

Experience up-close volcanic activity on this exciting geo-adventure tour of Pacaya Volcano, one of the few active volcanoes that can be hiked. Depart the pier from Puerto Quetzal and travel 90 minutes to the foot of Pacaya Volcano, towering at 2,552m in height. Be prepared for high humidity, which hovers at 80%.

Meet your certified guides, who are there to introduce you to the splendor of the primeval forest during your hike. After convening with your hiking group and a tour briefing, make your way up Pacaya volcano. Enjoy the view or take scenic photographs from the trail and the plateau, where three other volcanoes Agua, Fuego and Acatenango are visible, as well as beautifully colored volcanic rock.

Weather and safety permitting, reach a platform to be met with incredible views, which you can capture on camera. After your ascent, take a break and enjoy your surrounding with a light snack to energize you back for the descent.

Return to the ship (90-minute drive).

Please note: There is a total of three hours of driving (90 minutes in each direction) on this tour. This excursion is for physically fit guests only, as it involves two and a half hours of strenuous hiking in high heat and humidity. Comfortable clothing (with pants and long sleeves, appropriate hiking/walking shoes, sun protection (especially sunglasses and hat), insect repellent are recommended. Guests are recommended to bring a bottle of water. Due to the nature of hiking on an active volcano, the tour can be cancelled at any time, either before departure or during the tour to guarantee your safety at all times.
