Excursion Whisky galore tour at Aberdeen

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Enjoy a truly Scottish excursion, full of spirits, good food and ancient craftsmanship. Depart Aberdeen port and drive 1.75 hours to Speyside and the Glenfiddich Distillery. This vast expanse of Northern Britain hides many secrets including inland lakes, called "lochs" (such as the infamous Loch Lomond and Loch Ness) and eye-popping scenery of the Highlands and the true Scottish Spirit in the form of Scotch Whiskey.

Heading out from the noisy and bustling "Granite City" into the wilds of the beautiful Scottish Highlands, enjoy the peace and tranquility of a panoramic drive to Speyside and to the vibrant and thriving Highland village of Dufftown, known as the Malt Whiskey capital of the world, which is home to one of the worlds most awarded single malt Scotch whiskey Glenfiddich.

Founded in 1887, the first drop of spirit fell from the copper stills on 25th Dec 1887. Join your group for an insight into this treasured beauty and finish off with a few tasters for yourself and perhaps take a bottle home with you to boast to friends.

Once the tour has concluded enjoy a 2-course lunch at the distillery before departing to Speyside Cooperage.

A 10-minute drive brings you to the home of the ancient art of coopering since 1947. This five-star award winning exhibition takes you on a journey from Acorn to Cask. Immersed in the 4D sensory cinematic film experience, savor the sights, sounds and smells of a working cooperage.

Watch first-hand from the viewing gallery, the master craftsmen at work while they make and repair casks against the clock. Still using many traditional methods, the Coopers are busy shaping, shaving and charring casks for what is an integral part of the whiskey industry.

Upon departing Speyside and Whiskey country return to the ship after taking in the last views of the stunning Scottish countryside.
