DAY ONE - Monday, May 11, 2026 - Dubrovnik/Belgrade
Depart the ship this morning, in Dubrovnik, and transfer to the airport for a scheduled flight to Belgrade.
Serbia's vibrant capital city is renowned for its buzzing nightlife, while during the days, its streets reveal moments in history that shaped the country's stories. Throughout history many nations have fought over it Hungarians, Ottoman Turks, Austrians resulting in the city being razed to the ground and rebuilt as many as 38 times throughout its history. In 1841, Belgrade became the capital city of Serbia.
What gives Belgrade its unique identity is its location: it lies at the confluence of two large rivers, the Sava and the Danube, with popular promenades on their banks. This is an area lined with parks, dotted with many restaurants and cafés, most of them on river barges, with stunning views of the river and the city itself.
Upon arrival and check in at the hotel, a welcome dinner will be organized in the Skadarlija quarter.
Located in the Old Town Stari Grad, this is a bohemian site packed with history and funky things to see. The unique thing about Skadarlija is that much of the old architecture has remained in place, which gives you that sense of stepping into the past as soon as you arrive Skadarlija is buzzing both day and night, thanks to the large array of traditional restaurants and bars that line its streets. It is also a spot where artists tend to gravitate to, not only because of its history but also because of its bohemian artistic feel. It is not unusual to hear traditional folk music being played and artists with paintbrushes in their hands. Skadarlija is also quite laid back, making it a welcome break from the super busy city center vibe elsewhere. It is often compared to Montmartre in Paris because of how artistic the place is and the general bohemian feel.

Our Serbian journey continues with a visit to Vojvodina, an autonomous province of Serbia, located north of Belgrade, in the farming region called the Pannonian plain. Its western and southern borders are marked by great rivers, the Danube and the Sava, whose banks are often dotted with weekend cottages, and with forests and marshlands, some of which have been turned into wildlife sanctuaries and good hunting grounds. The locals here often take pride in their cities and villages having a European look than those just south of the rivers.
The biggest town of Vojvodina is Novi Sad and today you will have the chance to discover this city located on the bank of the Danube River influenced by many. Novi Sad was found in the late 17th century by serbian merchants who formed a colony across the Petrovaradin fortress, a Habsburg strategic military post. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it became an important trading and manufacturing town and center of Serbian culture of that period, earning the nickname of the Serbian Athens. Today, you will be able to feel the true spirit of this city.
Start the walk with the Danube Park, which has become one of the favorite sanctuaries for those seeking shade, tranquility and calmness within the city's urban environment. Scattered between the green slopes of Fruška gora and the blueness of Danube, Sremski Karlovci is guarding the rich treasury of Serbian culture and spirituality in its edifices of priceless historical values, and on the streets of Sremski Karlovci is still celebrated the wine and grapes twined with Branko Radičević's poetry.
Following a walking tour of this lovely town, continue to the Salas Nocajski where you will be welcomed by y our hosts the Cupic family.
